Multi-Cloud for In-Person Payments
We are building for zero downtime. Online transactions have been running on multi-cloud for months. Now we’re bringing it to in-person payments.
This means faster authorizations, higher uptime and the foundation for the upcoming Offline Mode. With Multi-Cloud for in-person payments, Carbon now runs across three independent, PCI-certified cloud providers: Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure. If one provider fails, your payments move automatically to the next.
⚡️ Faster than before
Multi-cloud doesn’t just bring redundancy. It brings speed. By distributing workloads and messaging, in-person transactions now process faster than before. Average latency is down. Stability is up. Terminals stay connected even during network turbulence.
💯 Always on. Always connected.
In-person payments now use intelligent routing across multiple clouds.
Each transaction call is smartly distributed and retried instantly on the next available instance.
That means no more timeouts. No more regional outages. You can even control routing yourself, choosing the target cloud for each call.
Complete control and visibility
A new Status API will show live performance data across all cloud instances. Partners can monitor uptime, latency, and switch routing logic dynamically.
For most, it just works. For power users, it’s full control over your transaction path.
Built for scale and compliance
All clouds are fully PCI certified, synchronized, and real-time replicated. This ensures full compliance across all fallback layers.
Payments remain traceable, auditable, and consistent no matter which instance processes them. We’re already working on adding more providers beyond Google, AWS, and Azure, expanding reach and redundancy even further.
→ Next step: Offline Mode
This is only half of what’s coming. Offline Mode will let payments process even when every cloud is unreachable. Together, Multi-Cloud + Offline means no failed transactions ever again. We’ll talk more about that soon. Very soon.
