Surfboard Payments AB, the next-generation check out experience provider, inaugurates software based payment solution app, Surfpay, for phone and tablet in an exciting pre-launch event. The company, which has been developing Surfpay for two years, today introduces their Tap to Pay solution exclusively to selected merchants.
Surfboard Payments has had an eventful week. First, with the announcement of their acceptance as a participating organization in the PCI Security Standards Council, contributing to the safety of payments on a global scale. And now, the company publicizes the highly anticipated launch of Surfpay with new tap to phone technology.
The EMV certified software leverages a smartphone’s NFC chip to enable contactless card transactions, turning mobile devices into a payment terminal. The app accepts all major card companies, e-wallet and Swish.
The pre-launched kicked off in Tandoori Kök and Bar, where Mariestad native Ashok Hindocha became the very first business owner to use the app. In addition to solidifying his role as the “original surfer,” Hindocha made history in the payment industry as his Samsung phone became the first in Sweden to perform a live CPoC transaction.
“My first impression (of Surfpay) was very good. It was convenient and fast, and the customers seemed to appreciate it very much.” Says Ashok Hindocha.
“I really like the experience, and it feels straightforward,” says Anna Söderman, Business Developer in Mariestad and one of the restaurant’s very first customers to pay via Surfpay “I can really see the benefit that this solution could bring to merchants here in Mariestad.”
Hindocha won’t be the only merchant to use Surfpay however. In fact, the company has carefully selected business owners around Sweden to partake in this exclusive sneak peek of the product. This strong start to the pre-launch sets the tone for Surfboard Payment’s year and acts as a first step in changing the trajectory of the checkout experience for small business owners forever.
