Surfboard Payments AB announces that the company has earned Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance for its card processing environment, which is yet another major milestone for the start-up.
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (or PCI DSS) is a set of rules and regulations for organisations that handle credit and debit card information or payments. PCI DSS is regarded and accepted on a global scale and mandated by all of the major card brands such as VISA, Mastercard, Discover Financial Services, American Express, and many others. PCI DSS ensures the security of card data through a set of requirements by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) such as the installation of firewalls, encryption of data transmissions, and the use of anti-virus software. All of this and more ensures our customers the highest level of security and showcase that we are safe to transact with.
Surfboard Payments has been a part of the PCI SSC since February of 2022, adding a voice to the standards development process and doing their part to ensure the improvements of payment security worldwide alongside so many other organisations within the industry. This added certification of security compliance, given by PCI, only consolidates Surfboard Payment’s dedication to providing the highest level of security for their card processing environments.
“Security has always been one of our biggest priorities,” says Chief Security Officer to Surfboard Payments, Neal Hindocha. “As we move forward, this achievement of obtaining PCI DSS compliance allows us to solidify that, and to strengthen the trust between us and our customers. I think this is a huge milestone.”
